Now that you have taken part in Genius Hour for a marking period, how can you relate to the article? Do you agree/disagree with the info in the article? Do you have anything new to add to the discussion?
I can relate to the article by the fact that you are given so much freedom. Its so much different than getting an assignment. Its something you personally enjoy and want to learn more about. Its not something that you must learn because its in the curriculum. I love how your not limited to only one option. There are countless ways to take this project on.
I agree with basically everything in this article. I think it would be even more beneficial to start Genius Hour in Elementary school. It also breaks the day up for the kids and gives them something to look forward to other than a spelling test. Its a great way to get kids out of their comfort zones too. If they want to learn about something they might have to do things they have not done before such as writing a formal letter or interviewing someone. I think it is a positive way to impact kids.
