Catching Your Horse: 1.Check your horses halter before you take him out of his stall. 2.Make sure your lead rope is not wrapped around your hand while you lead your horse. 3. Make sure all gates are closed behind you.
Preparing to Ride: 1.Check that your knot is tied correctly before walking away from your horse. 2.Groom your horse and check for any kinds of wounds that might have occurred since the last time you seen your horse. 3.Check your tack before tacking up to ride; Check for anything broken or anything pokey on your saddle pad
Now that your horse is tacked and ready there is a few more things to check before you get on!
1. You want to check to make sure your cinch is tight enough so your saddle does not slip when you mount. 2. Check your stirrups and make sure they are the right length. 3. Always double check your cinch right before you mount because horses bloat and hold in air and then release it when they want to. 4. Have someone check your cinch after you have mounted and walked around a couple laps.
